Celebrex, or celecoxib, belongs to the class of medicines called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used for the relief of pain and inflammation caused by arthritis or other conditions. Celebrex works by blocking a substance in the body’s natural production of prostaglandins, which play a role in pain and inflammation. By reducing prostaglandin levels, Celebrex helps to reduce pain and inflammation.
The main mechanism of action of Celebrex is its anti-inflammatory effect. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in the production of pain and inflammation. This helps to reduce the pain and inflammation, which are linked to the use of celecoxib.
The dosage of Celebrex depends on the patient’s condition and severity of the pain and inflammation. For osteoarthritis, the usual starting dose is 200mg per day for 12 weeks, followed by a maximum dose of 400mg daily for 3 months. The dosage should be gradually increased to 200mg once daily, based on the patient’s response to the medication.
The most common side effects of Celebrex are gastrointestinal and cardiovascular issues. These can include diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, and back pain. If these side effects persist or worsen, seek medical attention immediately.
Rare but serious side effects of Celebrex include allergic reactions, liver damage, or anaphylaxis. If these serious side effects occur, immediately contact a doctor.
Before taking Celebrex, inform your doctor if you have any of the following medical conditions: heart problems, irregular heartbeat, angina, chest pain, liver or kidney problems, a history of peptic ulcers, heart attack, or other serious heart problems.
Do not use Celebrex if you are allergic to celecoxib or any of the ingredients contained in the capsules.
Before taking Celebrex, inform your doctor if you have any of the following medical conditions: kidney or liver problems, or an inherited skin disorder.
Pregnancy, breast feeding, and breastfeeding are not recommended while using this medicine. Celebrex is not expected to harm the baby. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
Before using Celebrex, inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines. The information contained in this leaflet is for informational purposes only. It is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before using Celebrex.
Celecoxib (Celebrex) belongs to a group of medicines called COX-2 inhibitors that work by inhibiting the enzyme that breaks down cyclooxygenase (COX). This enzyme is responsible for producing inflammatory chemicals (called prostaglandins) which in turn, causes inflammation and pain. The medicine is used for a variety of indications including arthritis, cancer, heart disease, and kidney disease. Celecoxib is available in various forms including capsules, tablets, and oral suspensions.
